Developed as the ideal rear disc wheel for the Factor HANZŌ time trial specific bike, the Black Inc ZERO represents the ultimate in our commitment to providing world-beating products for competition at the highest levels.
Though a disc wheel may look simple, the design process is not. It’s essential to ensure the finished product is not only fast in the wind tunnel, but functional in a variety of situations and in a wide range of frames, not just the HANZŌ. During development, the seat tube/tire/wheel surface interfaces were evaluated as part of the HANZŌ project where it became clear there were opportunities for gains, while still being very fast in other manufacturers’ frames.
We went through multiple iterations of the design to find the most effective solutions for the aerodynamics as well as ride quality. The pretensioned wheel is an unmachined 30mm rim with a 21mm inner width and easy tubeless compatibility. By providing the ZERO with a tubeless tire bed, our engineers want riders to have the option to choose their fastest setup possible in terms of tire choice.
Thanks to our determination to find the best solutions to every design detail, the ZERO completely dominates the competition, both in wheel-only and wheel-in-bike testing. Significant improvement over other disc wheels can be seen even at zero yaw due to the extreme camber on both sides of the wheel.
A stunning improvement over the best competition on the market illustrates that by pushing the boundaries of wheel construction methods, pushing the boundaries of what is normally done, learning what works and doesn’t, and being unafraid to pursue bold ideas, we’ve been able to build the Black Inc ZERO as the world's fastest disc wheel.
